Happy birthday summer girl!

Besides being a super special young lady, you’re also our summer girl, the only one of our seven grandchildren born in the heat of summer, my favorite season! No surprise why you love the water, enjoy your pool, the beach, boats, lakes and are a confident swimmer-fish girl.

Grammy and I had a blast watching you do your thing @ your birthday pool party.  Your little sister (who admires you and copies your every move) was there by your side as you opened presents. And of course you spent plenty of time in your pool on a hot July summer night.

You also made crazy, funny faces, one of my favorite things about you.  Here’s what I mean:

One of the (many) cool things I’ve noticed over the past year – as you went from 10 to 11 – is how the “little girl” has been left behind, making way for a pre-teen girl who’s funny, has many friends, cares about learning (and getting good grades), is an avid reader, likes clothes and is already creating her own special, stylish look.

You’ve also become a ‘gamer girl,’ playing virtually with Molly nearly every day.  You love that!   I have no idea how you know how to do what you do, but I find it amazing.

You’re also the only one of our grandkids who likes and plays basketball, my favorite sport.  THANK YOU THANK YOU.  It’s a blast watching you go up and down that court, gaining confidence with every game.  Shoot, score, rebound, pass, defend, win!

There’s nothing stopping you Ainsley.  You’ve got the brains, looks, and drive to be a big success in life, at whatever you do.  So always believe in yourself and never compare yourself to other people.  You’re unique, special and one-of-a-kind, so just be yourself, try hard and care about others and the world will be your oyster (oysters? huh? that means you’ll be a big success in life).
